Four Gay Short Films on One New DVD Release

Early 2009 sees the third annual DVD release of a collection of gay short films from Alluvial Filmworks.

FirstOUT 3 is set for release January 6, 2009, offering four short-form films that span genres from mystery to comedy to coming-of-age, but have one thing in common: a gay theme.

Anthony Meidl's film Ready? OK! is the first of the new offerings, a film that was honored by being selected as a finalist for the 2008 Planet Out Scion Viewer's Choice Short Film Awards.

Says the news release, "Loosely based on his own childhood struggles with acceptance, Meindl has created a heartwarming story that many can identify with."

El Primo (The Cousin), by Nick Oceano, is the second film in the four-film collection. Set in Texas, El Primo follows a teenager and his older cousin as "a simple night of partying... becomes a night of self-revelation."

Notes the release, "El Primo has garnered the award for Best American-Latino Short from the Downtown Film Festival in Los Angeles and was honored as one of the Best of Fest in this year's Outfest Film Festival in Los Angeles."

Four Degrees, a thriller from Adam Lipsius, is also included. Says the release, "The film tells the story of a man who is accused of a crime he did not commit.

"This realistically terrifying depiction of an interrogation creates an awareness of those occurring every day. The film won the Institute for Humane Studies Film/Fiction Award for its strong production and impressive storyline."

Rounding out the collection is Coffee, Todd Bartoo's comedy in which "a group of friends hatch a plan to separate rumor from fact, which ends up much hotter than they ever anticipated."

FirstOUT 3 is anticipated to sell for a SRG of $22.98. Running length is about 79 minutes.
